Respiratory Therapy

When its trouble free, we simply take breathing for granted. However, for those who suffer from chronic lung problems, have been injured or are recovering from surgery, each breath can be a major achievement. Our Respiratory Care Department helps make breathing easier for patients who have respiratory conditions. Here at Wilson Medical Center, we have skilled respiratory therapy staff who can evaluate, treat, educate, and care for our patients with breathing disorders. Simply put, they help you to breathe easier.

What is a Respiratory Therapist (RT)?

A respiratory therapist (RT) is a certified medical professional whose primary focus - their specialty - is in providing healthcare for your lungs. They are highly trained in the use of high-tech equipment used to evaluate and treat your respiratory condition, and they collaborate with doctors and nurses to provide you with outstanding care. They aid in improving outcomes for people with asthma, pneumonia, emphysema, and other diagnoses. Respiratory therapists have the ability to assess your breathing, recommend exercises, and monitor your progress.
